School District Reopening Plans

School District Reopening Plans

USC logo According to the Pennsylvania Department of Education, each school entity must create a Health and Safety Plan, which will serve as the local guidelines for all instructional and non-instructional school reopening activities. The following plans have been approved by the Upper St. Clair School Board of Directors:

  • Athletic Health & Safety Plan (approved June 15, 2020; revised July 5, 2020, pending School Board approval): The Upper St. Clair School District will take the necessary precautions and recommendations from the federal, state, and local governments, CDC, Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH), as well as the National Federation of High Schools (NFHS), and Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) to safeguard the participants and staff of our athletic programs.

  • Phased School Initial Reopening Health and Safety Plan-Interim July 1, 2020-August 2020 (approved June 29, 2020): The Upper St. Clair School District’s Initial Reopening Health and Safety Plan is an interim plan to support a “soft” reopen to include summer co-curriculars and varied opportunities to bring students into schools under the established reopening guidelines, which may include in-person evaluations with school psychologists, demonstration lessons for teaching candidates, individualized or small group learning / related service sessions, transition activities for students, and/or similar activities/experiences. A more comprehensive reopening plan will be approved and submitted in August 2020 based on established guidelines and necessary supports at that time.

The approved plan has been developed by reviewing and applying information from the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the Pennsylvania Department of Health, and the Center for Disease Control considerations.

The goal of this plan is to provide the appropriate guidelines for students and staff for the summer as the district administration continues to seek input from stakeholders and continues to monitor the information provided around COVID-19 and the necessary considerations for student and staff health and safety.  As the summer progresses, the plan will continue to evolve and be developed to have a comprehensive health and safety plan in place to support our students and staff.
