Panel discussion on vaping – Dec. 11 

Vaping program The Youth Steering Committee of Upper St. Clair is hosting a panel discussion, “Vaping...Addictive, Dangerous and Deadly,” at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2019, at the Community & Recreation Center at Boyce Mayview Park. The program is free and open to the public.

The panel includes:

  • Dan Boucek – Internal Medicine Physician
  • Sean Bryson – Chief of School Police, Upper St. Clair School District
  • Hunaid Nulwala – Chemist
  • Jon Wharton – Chief of Police, Upper St. Clair Township Police
  • Michael Ventura – Sergeant, Upper St. Clair Township Police 

According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, nearly 40 percent of 12th grade students admit to having tried vaping. The permanent, deadly harm of e-cigarette use is just coming to light. How can we combat this epidemic? Join the Youth Steering Committee on Dec. 11 to begin the discussion.

The Youth Steering Committee of Upper St. Clair is a community action group, jointly appointed by the Township Board of Commissioners and Board of School Directors. The committee is comprised of adult residents, student representatives and liaisons from the appointing boards. Its mission is to involve the Upper St. Clair community in providing positive direction and support to the community’s youth and their families.
