Mini-THON initiatives underway
support this student led effort

Mini-THON Coming up on Friday, April 5, 2019, is Upper St. Clair High School’s Mini-THON, a student-led fundraising event supporting childhood cancer research. The event, based on Penn State’s THON, offers opportunities for the entire community to get involved. This year the event will be held at Fort Couch Middle School.

A designated “Community Time” from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5, enables residents of all ages to participate in games, purchase refreshments, dance and, overall, have a fun time! Following Community Time, participating high schoolers will be “locked-in” until 6 a.m. Saturday for a night full of dancing, food, games, and much more!

“Last year, we were able to raise more than $41,000 in our fight to conquer childhood cancer!,” Rachel Harris, a USCHS senior and Mini-THON public relations school and community executive board member, said. “We need students and community members to continue spreading the word to help us reach our goal of $50,000.”

To reach the $50,000 goal, students have organized several fundraising initiatives leading up to the Mini-THON – including launching an online donor page. Click here and select “Donate To This Event” to support Upper St. Clair High School’s Mini-THON!

“The Donor Drive, our online fundraising page, has already raised more than $14,000, but we are a long way from attaining our goal. We need your help to reach this goal,” Rachel said.

A big part of fundraising is community outreach. Already this year, students have hosted a babysitting night for children around the community. In addition, they held fundraisers at Duck Donuts and Moe’s.  Next up is a Chipotle fundraiser on Saturday, March 9.
