USCHS ranks No. 426 nationally, No. 12 in Pennsylvania and No. 2 in the Pittsburgh region.

For the 2026-27 rankings, U.S. News evaluated nearly 18,000 public high schools from more than 27,000 schools reviewed nationwide. The rankings are based on the most recent available data, from the 2023-24 school year, and assess schools across six areas: college readiness (30%), state assessment proficiency (20%), state assessment performance (20%), underserved student performance (10%), college curriculum breadth (10%) and graduation rate (10%).

College readiness accounts for the largest portion of the ranking and measures student participation and performance on Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams.

“We are proud to see Upper St. Clair High School recognized among the nation’s top high schools, but the greatest measure of our success is the opportunities we provide for every student to grow, challenge themselves and prepare for their future,” Dr. Cara Senger, high school principal, said. “This recognition reflects the dedication of our students, staff and families and the culture of excellence they work together to create each day.”

U.S. News & World Report says its Best High Schools rankings are intended to recognize high-performing schools and provide families with information about how schools are serving their students. The publication also hopes the rankings will inspire educators and communities to continue working to improve educational opportunities and outcomes.

The U.S. News Best High Schools rankings were first published online Nov. 30, 2007.
