USCHS named among the nation’s BEST

2025-26 Best High Schools

Upper St. Clair High School ranks among the top three percent of high schools in the nation according to U.S. News & World Report. Released on Aug. 19, 2025, the 2025-2026 Best High Schools evaluated nearly 24,000 eligible public high schools at the national, state and local levels, with nearly 18,000 ranked.

The methodology evaluates schools using the most current data from the 2022-2023 school year and focuses on six factors: college readiness (30%), state assessment proficiency (20%), state assessment performance (20%), underserved student performance (10%), college curriculum breadth (10%), and graduation rate (10%). College readiness measures participation and performance on Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams.

By sharing this information, officials at U.S. News & World Report strive to recognize high-performing schools and inspire educators and municipalities to do better.

“U.S. News acknowledges the importance of America's high schools and the role of education in driving the country's future,” according to its website. “Recognizing schools that are performing well and providing them as models to other schools can inspire educators and communities to do better.”

By sharing this information, officials at U.S. News & World Report hope to arm parents with knowledge to help them make better-informed decisions about their children's education.

"Students and families need data to help them make one of the most important decisions of their academic journey. Our Best High Schools rankings provide the insights to help them identify schools that will prepare students for college success," LaMont Jones, Ed.D., managing editor for education at U.S. News, said. "Access to information isn't just helpful— it's essential for planning a student's future."

The first-ever list of the U.S. News Best High Schools was posted online on Nov. 30, 2007.
