The USC Robotics team, Revolution Robots, earned one of two Judges' Awards at the 2025 Pennsylvania FIRST Lego League (FLL) State Championships, held on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025, at Palmyra High School. With this achievement, the team has secured a spot at the national American Robotics Open, taking place May 17-18, 2025, at Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Revolution Robots consists of Fort Couch Middle School students Ritu Gupta, Aanya Jha, Nathan Suchta, Emily Chen, Mahathi Devaki, Praachi Sreeram and Nimisha Simhadri. The team is coached by Rama Bala, Archana Devaki and Geetali Pandey.

"We are so proud of the students' hard work and perseverance throughout the season,” Dr. Bala said. “This is just the second year of USC teams participating in competitive FLL tournaments and we are extremely thrilled at the opportunity to make a proud USC Panther footprint at a national competition."

At the American Robotics Open, Revolution Robots will compete among 52 top teams from across the United States.

The FLL State Championships saw three USC middle school robotics teams—Revolution Robots, Mechanical Mayhem, and Starfish—competing at a high level. USC’s middle school FLL coordinator, Matt Wilson, praised their performance.

“USC Robotics' FLL teams had a fantastic showing at the PA State Championships,” Mr. Wilson said.

Beyond Revolution Robots’ Judges’ Award, Mechanical Mayhem secured an impressive second place in Robot Design. Although Starfish did not receive an award, Mr. Wilson highlighted their strong performance as a rookie fifth-grade team.

“Having seen their impressive performance, I am certain they were in the running for the Breakthrough or Rising All-Star award,” he said. “I also expect we'll see some incredible achievements from these girls in the future!”

Mr. Wilson remains optimistic about the USC Robotics program’s continued growth and success.

“I am delighted at this wonderful season and at the hard work all of our FLL students gave this year,” Mr. Wilson said. “I can't wait to see what happens next year with these amazing students!”
