U-THON was held in partnership with the Pitt Dance Marathon benefitting the UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.

Nearly 200 students participated in the eight-hour dance marathon, which also included games, activities and lots of food. The event was coordinated by Student Council with oversight from Brooke Tarcson, head of student activities. Student leaders included Ryan LaRocco, Ben Seewald, Emma Toosi, Anderson Ploeger, Brady Bernard, Jack Yurcich, Ava Kasper, John Tripodes, Carly Shontz and Nate Stohl.

This marked Upper St. Clair High School’s fourth THON event. The first event, held in 2017, raised $17,531. The event went on to raise $41,098 and $58,477 in 2018 and 2019, respectively. The 2025 U-THON is the school’s first since the pandemic and the first for the school’s current student body.

The total raised far surpasses the goal of $25,000, which was set in recognition of the Class of 2025.

“With this being the first U-THON in several years, we weren’t sure what to expect,” Mrs. Tarcson said. “We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of our USC community.”

Community support included corporate sponsors, food donations from parents and community members, and numerous individual donations through the online donor drive.

Each student received a U-THON t-shirt and refillable water bottle to keep them hydrated throughout the night. Students kept busy with games, including a pickleball tournament, dodgeball, human bowling, relay races, tug-of-war, hungry hungry hippos, Jeopardy, capture the flag, and ships and sailors. In addition, there were line dances, Zumba, laps around the track, a glow rave and an eating contest.
