Two named Model UN Best Delegates

Two Upper St. Clair High School seniors earned Best Delegate honors at the recent Model UN Conference hosted by Duquesne University. Jamie Barrett was recognized for representing the United States on the UN Environment Committee and Roshan Mishra was honored for his role as the United States on Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC).
In total, 12 Upper St. Clair High School students took on various important delegations at the event, which featured teams from across western Pennsylvania and beyond. The students were led by Thomas Yochum, USCHS gifted education coordinator.
“All twelve students should be commended on their active participation at the conference, which organizers noted was one of the best attended in years,” Mr. Yochum said. “Our students were prepared with research and confidently led discussion across most key committees. Fantastic individual and collective job in representing USC in an intellectually demanding environment!”
Model UN, a simulation of the sessions of the United Nations, provides an opportunity for high school students to apply their studies to real-world contexts and practice diplomacy, negotiating and resolution writing.
