Four selected for district orchestra

Four Upper St. Clair High School student musicians participated in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District 1 Senior Orchestra. Representing Upper St. Clair were seniors Roselyn Goldstein, violin; Carlee Santel, trumpet; and Darcy Vilkner, cello; along with sophomore Kyriaki Smith, clarinet.

The district orchestra event was held Jan. 9-11, 2025, at Bethel Park High School. The ensemble was conducted by Dr. Christopher Cicconi, director of bands and professor of wind conducting at James Madison University.

The Upper St. Clair students receive strings instruction from Karen Chisholm, Upper St. Clair orchestra director.

PMEA District 1 encompasses Allegheny, Fayette, Greene, Washington and Westmoreland counties.

PMEA is a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the musical development of all Pennsylvanians.
