Fifth grade robotics team advances to PA Championships

A team of Boyce Middle School fifth graders had its ticket punched to the Pennsylvania State FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Championships, which are set for this Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025, at Palmyra High School, near Hershey, Pa.
The Starfish robotics team placed ninth overall and received the Rising Star Award at the Western Pennsylvania FLL Grand Championship back on Dec 7, 2024. While a great finish for a rookie team, their efforts placed them as the first alternate.
With one team unable to attend, The Starfish team is now headed to the state championship.
Team members include Claire McCluskey, Seetha Muthiah, Ishanvi Kuppili, Grace Li, Asmi Tatipamula, Shreya Nambiar, Priyal Baskota and Callie Chen. Vamsi Krishna Kuppili, Doris Xiang and Alexandra McCluskey serve as coaches.
The team joins two other USC Robotics teams that qualified for the Pennsylvania championships – Mechanical Mayhem and Revolution Robots from Fort Couch Middle School.
