RUSH Event Showcases Clubs and Activities at USCHS
Upper St. Clair High School hosted its annual RUSH event during lunch periods on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025. Designed as a recruitment fair, RUSH highlights the school’s many clubs and activities, encouraging students to get involved and discover new interests.
This year’s event was organized by junior class student council executives Caty Howard, Sophie Hicks, and Trevor McClintock-Comeaux, under the guidance of Brooke Tarcson, head of student activities.
“The goal of RUSH is to get more students involved in the incredible clubs and activities we have at USCHS,” Caty said. “The event is designed to give clubs exposure and help students find ways to connect. A great high school experience often starts with getting involved.”
During the event, tables staffed by club representatives lined the high school track, where students learned more about each group and could sign up to participate.
USCHS offers dozens of clubs spanning a wide range of interests—from fine and performing arts, science, technology, and robotics to politics, language and culture, future careers, community service, and hobbies. Student favorites include long-standing traditions such as the Cereal Club.
Students are encouraged to sign-up for multiple clubs as many only meet periodically. The key is to get involved and start forming connections.
“High school is what you allow it to be and for me being a part of clubs gives me so much joy,” Caty said. “We have something for everyone and it’s so fun to be with other students who have the same interests as you, but it is also fun to join something new and meet new people.”
In addition to the many existing groups, students also have the option to create new clubs. The process begins with completing a club interest form and securing a staff sponsor.
The high school’s clubs and student council are part of the USCHS Activities Office, led by Mrs. Tarcson and Mr. Doug Kirchner, gifted education teacher.
