Three selected for PMEA District orchestra

Three Upper St. Clair High School orchestra students were recently selected for the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 1 orchestra. Percussionist Isaac Bernstein along with violinists Miriam Gutensohn and Daniel Tung will participate in the orchestra event Feb. 8-10, 2024, at North Hills Middle School.The Upper St. Clair students are led by Ms. Karen Chisholm, orchestra director.
“The students were accepted in the Honors String Orchestra and the District Band events and will be participating in this orchestral ensemble, which is comprised of talented music students representing over 20 schools,” Ms. Chisholm said.
The District 1 orchestra will perform at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. j10, 2024, at North Hills Middle School. PMEA District 1 includes school districts from Allegheny, Fayette, Green, Washington and Westmoreland counties.
PMEA is a statewide nonprofit organization of more than 4,500 members, dedicated to promoting the musical development of all Pennsylvanians. The organization promotes and supports quality music education, learning and performance as well as promoting and supporting music education in schools and communities. PMEA is affiliated with The National Association for Music Education.
