Six qualify for PMEA region choir

Six Upper St. Clair High School students were selected by competitive audition to participate in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Region 1 Choir. Musicians include Greg Boughner, Elliott Bruno, Reese Copenhaver, Phoebe Glunt, Adam Levine and Isabel Vilensky.The PMEA Region 1 Choir Festival will be held at Mars Area High School, March 6-8, 2024. Upper St. Clair students are led by Laura Surguine, choir director and drama teacher.
Students auditioned for the Region I Choir during the PMEA District 1 Chorus Festival, which was held Jan. 24-26 at Canon-McMillan High School. PMEA District 1 includes school districts from Allegheny, Fayette, Green, Washington and Westmoreland counties. PMEA Region 1 is comprised of PMEA District 1 and District 5, which includes Beaver, Butler, Lawrence and Mercer counties.
PMEA is a statewide nonprofit organization of more than 4,500 members, dedicated to promoting the musical development of all Pennsylvanians. The organization promotes and supports quality music education, learning and performance as well as promoting and supporting music education in schools and communities. PMEA is affiliated with The National Association for Music Education.
