National Honor Society inducts record number

The Upper St. Clair High School chapter of the National Honor Society inducted 213 new members during its annual induction ceremony on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, in the high school’s theater.At 213, this is the school’s largest number of new inductees and, representing 61% of the class of 2025, this is the largest percentage of a class on record. On average, approximately 51% of Upper St. Clair juniors are inducted into the National Honor Society.

The 2023-24 National Honor Society officers include seniors Vir Kamat, president; Theeya Chen, vice-president; Shubham Patel, treasurer; and Clara Senchyshak, secretary. Dr. Steve Torquato, social studies teacher, serves as the faculty adviser.
The National Honor Society is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, National Honor Society serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character. These traits have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921.
