Nine selected for PMEA Honors Band

Nine Upper St. Clair High School musicians were selected to the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District 1 Honors Band. The following students were selected via competitive audition:  

  • Elise Parrish, grade 11: Flute 2
  • Lauren Tenney, grade 12: Clarinet 1 (1st Chair)
  • Kiki Smith, grade 9: Clarinet 2
  • Kaitlyn Burns, grade 9: Clarinet 3
  • Sandro McFarland, grade 12: Tenor Saxophone
  • Maria Khila, grade 11: Baritone Saxophone (1st Chair)
  • Carlee Santel, grade 11: Trumpet 1
  • Isaac Bernstein, grade 12: Percussion (1st Chair)
  • Arman Kethavath, grade 10: Percussion (alternate)

The Honors Band Festival is set for Nov. 17-19, 2023, at North Hills Middle School. The Upper St. Clair High School students are led by Dr. John Seybert, performing arts curriculum leader and director of high school bands.

PMEA District 1 encompasses Allegheny, Fayette, Greene, Washington and Westmoreland counties. District honors festival musicians have the opportunity to advance to Region, All State, Eastern Division and National NAfME groups.

PMEA is a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the musical development of all Pennsylvanians.
