Marching band earns top scores at PIMBA competition
The Upper St. Clair Marching Band earned first place as well as Best Music Performance and Best Effect awards in Class AA at the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Marching Band Association (PIMBA) competition on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, at Mt. Lebanon High School.
The performance featured the marching band’s Graceland to Liverpool show: Crying in the Chapel (Elvis), Don't Be Cruel (Elvis), Can't Help Falling in Love (Elvis), She Loves You (Beatles), Eleanor Rigby (Beatles), Come Together (Beatles), and Hey Jude (Beatles). View the performance
The band is under the direction of Dr. John Seybert, performing arts curriculum leader and director of bands. The band was led on the field by USCHS senior Brian McFerran, drum major.
Other Class AA marching bands competing at the Mt. Lebanon band competition included Baldwin High School and Deer Lakes High School.
Next, the Upper St. Clair Marching Band will compete at the PIMBA Championships on Saturday, Oct. 28, at Moon Area High School. In total, 18 marching bands will participate beginning at 4:30 p.m. In Class AA, Upper St. Clair will compete against Mars Area, Deer Lakes, Fox Chapel and Baldwin high schools.
