7th grader to star in Nutcracker

Upper St. Clair seventh grader Emma Vilensky has been cast in the lead roles of Clara and Ballerina Doll in the Texture Ballet School’s upcoming performances of the Nutcracker.Emma has been studying ballet for five years, beginning at the School of American Ballet at Juilliard in New York City at age 7. When her family relocated to the Pittsburgh area two years ago, she began dancing at the Texture Ballet School, where she practices six days a week.
“Emma loves dancing ballet,” Irina Konstantinovskaya, Emma’s mom, said. “Texture Ballet has really high quality performances and kids work so so hard.”
At Fort Couch Middle School, Emma is involved with girls’ volleyball, book club and fitness club.
Texture Ballet School’s performances of the Nutcracker are set for 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2 and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3 at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center in downtown Pittsburgh. Shows at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 9 at the Palace Theatre in Greensburg. Tickets can be purchased online.
