Sophomore named World Affairs Council Fellow
June 2, 2023
Upper St. Clair High School sophomore Giuliana Amorosa has been named a Fundraising & Development Fellow at the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh. She is one of only seven students from throughout the region selected for this year-long experience.
The Youth Fellowship program is a leadership and career development program that provides high school students with hands-on educational and professional development. Through the Fellowship Program, students have the opportunity to work alongside change-makers to lead the future of global learning in Pittsburgh and beyond.
“I am excited for the position because it gives me such a unique opportunity to really connect with the global community of Pittsburgh,” Giuliana said. “I am hopeful to meet other wonderful students who share similar global interests as me.”
The primary goals of the Fundraising & Development committee are to develop new youth programs and to help raise money for the organization and its mission.
“Since I am a part of the fundraising and development committee, I will bring my love of planning and teaching to the job,” Giuliana said. “My background in coaching a youth cheer team has helped me prepare for working with children and knowing how they learn best.”
Giuliana was drawn to the World Affairs Council’s Youth Fellowship program because of her love for other cultures and travel.
“I hope one day to travel the world and working with this organization provides a wonderful first step to understanding all the diverse cultures around the globe,” she said. “They also offer some great job developmental programs that will benefit me for years to come. I am most excited for the Global Minds camp at Pitt and am eager to meet all the other students.”
At Upper St. Clair High School, Giuliana is a member of the cheerleading team, Future Business Leaders of America and Kids Helping Kids. She also founded the club Letters of Love that works to connect seniors with the Upper St. Clair community through birthday and other holiday cards.
