USCHS celebrates the Class of 2023
Upper St. Clair High School awarded diplomas to the 333 members of the school’s Class of 2023 during commencement ceremonies on Thursday, June 8, 2023, in the high school’s stadium.
Student Council President Maura Joyce kicked-off the event with an inspirational message and Senior Class President Marina Gzikowski delivered the student welcome. Student speakers included Ashvita Saxena, Jasmine Dietiker and Ansh Goyal.
Within his remarks, Dr. Timothy Wagner, principal, highlighted the many achievements of the Class of 2023 and encouraged the new graduates to follow their passions.
“You are a group of students who have demonstrated exceptional academic, athletic, and artistic achievement – and also were the first class to take American Civic Engagement, completing Capstone Projects, and to speak ‘live’ with an astronaut on the International Space Station,” he said. “As we have watched you learn and grow over the past four years, I can say with resolve that you are a class that is hopeful. And, just as you’ve done many times before, I encourage you to forge a course in life that is inspired by what excites you, what satisfies you, and what strengthens you.”
Dr. John Rozzo, superintendent of schools, reflected on the many changes in the world since the Class of 2023 began kindergarten in 2010 and encouraged students to embrace the challenges ahead.
“The world needs your leadership now more than ever,” he said. “Do not shy away from the challenges that lie ahead; instead, see them as opportunities to grow, learn, and shape a better future for all.”
