USCHS competes in High Q semifinals
Tune-in to KDKA at 11 a.m. this Saturday, June 4, 2022, to watch Upper St. Clair High School students compete in the semifinals of KDKA’s Hometown High Q, an academic challenge hosted by KDKA-TV meteorologist Ray Petelin.
The Upper St. Clair team is comprised of juniors Jasmine Dietiker, Patrick Nowak and team captain Chase Neponuceno. Coached by gifted coordinator Pat Palazzolo, the team will compete against students from The Ellis School and North Allegheny Senior High School.
The recorded show will air at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 4 and again at 11:30 a.m. the following Saturday, June 11. Video of the episode will be available online after its initial airing.
Hometown High Q is a 30-minute academic quiz show where each week three school teams vie against one another. Students must correctly answer questions from a variety of general high school curriculum subject areas. The top scoring schools in the competition advance to the playoffs.
High Q, which premiered during the 1999-2000 school year, was inspired by similar programs in other cities including the long-running “It’s Academic” in Washington, D.C.
