Two qualify for national track & field championships

Two Upper St. Clair High School students recently qualified for the 2022 USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships. Rising 10th grader Emily Powell and rising ninth grader Sadie Tomczyk will compete in the national track and field events July 25-31, 2022, in Sacramento, Calif.

To qualify, both student-athletes medaled at the USATF Region 2 Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships held July 7-10, 2022, at Slippery Rock University. Emily qualified in the Long Jump and Sadie qualified in the Girls Heptathlon, 100m, 400m and High Jump.

The top five in each event at the regional competition qualify to compete at nationals. The National Championships will be held at Hornet Stadium on the campus of California State University, Sacramento.
