Creative Communication poetry contest
Poems from two Fort Couch Middle School students were recently selected for publication in the Creative Communication poetry contest. Published poets include seventh graders Anelise Castrodale and Erin Wells.

Erin’s poem, “Demons,” and Anelise’s poem, “Take Me Back,” will be published in a student poetry anthology. Only the top 45 percent of poetry entries are included in the anthology.

The poetry contest, open to students in kindergarten through grade nine, is divided into three grade divisions: K-3, 4-6 and 7-9. Poems could be 21 lines or less on any topic. Entries are judged on literary merit, creativity and social significance by published writers and/or educators in elementary, secondary and higher education.

According to its website, “Creative Communication is devoted to the promotion of writing, teaching and appreciation of student writing. The intent of our student writing contests is to motivate student writers. The top entries are published in an anthology that will record the creative insights of today's student writers.”
