10 selected to PMEA Jazz Ensembles
Ten Upper St. Clair High School musicians were recently accepted through competitive audition to the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District I Jazz Ensembles.

The students receive music instruction from Dr. John Seybert, director of bands and performing arts curriculum leader.
“Our USC students make up 10 of the 35 total members in the two PMEA ensembles,” Dr. Seybert said. “This is an outstanding achievement for our program.”
The two-day PMEA District 1 Honors Jazz Band Festival will be held Feb. 17-18, 2023, at Seton Hill University. Mike Tomaro, director of the Jazz Studies Program at Duquesne University, and Bob Matchett, director of bands at Seneca Valley Senior High School, will serve as the festival’s guest conductors.
PMEA is a statewide nonprofit organization of more than 4,500 members, dedicated to promoting the musical development of all Pennsylvanians. District 1 includes school districts from Allegheny, Fayette, Green, Washington and Westmoreland counties.
The organization promotes and supports quality music education, learning and performance, as well as promoting and supporting music education in schools and communities. PMEA is affiliated with The National Association for Music Education.
