Four Upper St. Clair High School students will perform with the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021. The free concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh. Participating USCHS musicians include seniors Sophie Chen and Phoebe Chen, as well as juniors Eleanor Alford and Rebecca Lang.

Led by Guest Conductor Daniel Meyer, the concert features Stravinsky’s Firebird (1919), Brahms’ Academic Festival Overture, Selections from Bizet’s L’Arlesienne Suites, and David Stock’s Drive Time. The program is under 90 minutes with no intermission.

The youth orchestra is typically comprised of 85 to 90 members, who range in age from 14 to 20, from approximately 30 different schools in the tri-state area. Students are selected to the PYSO by competitive audition.
