Junior earns first place for original composition
More than 200 young writers, visual artists, musicians, filmographers and inventors in Allegheny County vied for honors in the library’s 2021 Teen Media Awards, which includes the Ralph Munn Creative Writing Contest and the Labsy Awards. The awards, which serve as a platform for celebrating teens and their original content, recognize a broad range of creative work.
Labsy Award categories include 2D Art & Design, 3D Art & Design, Filmmaking, Fashion, Invention, Music and Photography.
First- and second-place winners in each category received cash awards. The Labsy Awards were open to students in grades 6-12 and the Ralph Munn Creative Writing Contest is for students in grades 9-12. Entries were judged by a panel of 31 Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh staff.
The 2021 Labsy Award Winners and Honorable Mentions are featured on the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s Teenspace Instagram.
