Four staff members honored for 25 years of service

Four staff members were honored for their 25-years of service to the Upper St. Clair School District. They were recognized on Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2021, during the district’s annual Opening Day, the first day back for teachers and teacher aides.

Each staff member will receive a 25-year pin in recognition of the silver anniversary. Honorees include: 

  • Christine Hestwood, Music Teacher – Boyce and Fort Couch Middle Schools & Upper St. Clair High School (previously Baker Elementary)
  • Dan Holzer, Social Studies Teacher, Boys Basketball Coach, Student Activities Director & Senior Class Sponsor – Upper St. Clair High School
  • Heidi Joseph, Special Education Aide – Baker Elementary School
  • Rose Ogden, Confidential Administrative Assistant – Nutrition Center

The morning event, held virtually, also included remarks from Dr. Judy Bulazo, director of curriculum and professional development; Patrick Manion, teachers’ union president; Gina Swanson, Parent Teacher Council president; Patrick Hewitt, school board president; and Dr. John Rozzo, superintendent of schools.

All students in grades 1-12 will begin the 2021-22 school year on Tuesday, Aug. 24. For kindergarten families, Tuesday, Aug. 24 and Wednesday, Aug. 25 will be used to conduct welcome events and orientation. The first regular day of kindergarten will occur on Thursday, Aug. 26.
