Homecoming Court announced
Homecoming Week officially kicked-off on Sunday, Oct. 11 with the Happily Ever After Homecoming Parade followed by the annual powderpuff football game between the juniors and senior girls.
Members of the Homecoming Court were announced in the final two vehicles in the parade. The Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned during halftime of this Friday’s football game against the Moon Area Tigers. Kick-off is at 7 p.m. Video of the game and halftime festivities can be watched via live stream at uscsd.tv.
Candidates for Queen include:
- Sydney Brown, daughter of Maria and Ryan Brown, is an active member of Kids Helping Kids club and also served as a committee chairperson for the school’s UTHON dance marathon.
- Marina Bulazo, daughter of Judy and Stephen Bulazo, is a Student Council senior executive board member, a senior leader with the Junior Mentor program, and an active member of both the Best Buddies and Young Life groups.
- Malorie Glancy, daughter of Danielle and Mike Glancy, is a member of the Pantheon and Chanteclair choirs, has had lead roles in the school’s spring musicals, and serves as captain of the girls’ varsity volleyball team.
- Lexi Hall, daughter of Liz and Dave Hall, is a member of Student Council and the Kids Helping Kids club, volunteers as a buddy for the Miracle League, and plays on the varsity girls’ soccer team.
- Sammie Seewald, daughter of Stacey and Scott Seewald, is a member of the Kids Helping Kids club, president of National Honor Society, and secretary of the Class of 2021.
Senior boys vying for King include:
- Luke Gensler, son of Trish and Terry Gensler, is a member of National Honor Society and a four-year varsity basketball athlete.
- Buddy Hall, son of Liz and Dave Hall, is an active member of the Miracle League and Friendship Circle. Buddy’s interests include swimming, listening to music, watching Disney movies, and especially spending time with friends.
- Jaden Keating, son of Julie Keating, is a member of the varsity wrestling program and serves as a captain of the varsity football team. Jaden can also be found refereeing youth football games during this free time.
- Joe Phillips, son of Brenda and Brian Phillips, is a member of the Speech & Debate team; sings in the Men's Ensemble, Pantheon and Chanteclair choirs; and is very active performing in the school’s fall plays and spring musicals.
- Zachary Reynolds, son of Wanda and Bruce Reynolds, is a member of the Pantheon and Chanteclair choirs and also performs with the Center for Theater Arts.
The senior girls defeated the juniors, 13-7, in the annual powderpuff game. The event was organized by Constantine Tripodes, student council president. Many thanks to football coaches Mike Junko and Gordon Mathews who officiated the game as well as to Pat Manion, social studies teacher, who served as the announcer.
