Giannuzzi, Mrs. L. (Grade 8 Science-Team 6)email@example.com | 412.833.1600 ext. 3303Welcome to Mrs. Giannuzzi's website!!!
Welcome to eighth grade Science! We have an exciting and challenging year ahead of us. The course of study for eighth grade science has been designed to present a multi-text approach to provide your child with a wide array of science content. The course will prepare your child for future scientific inquiry in earth science, chemistry and physics. It stresses both “read and study” and “learn by doing” approaches requiring the successful completion of hands-on experiences, labs, projects and content area reading.
As the year begins, I want you to know that I value you as a key player in your child’s education. Consequently, two-way meaningful communication is essential throughout the year to effectively meet the unique needs of every student. Please do not hesitate to call or email to discuss any concerns regarding your child.
Another way to set your child up for success is to become acquainted with Canvas which is our school’s online teaching and learning management system. This is where you can find your child’s homework assignments, check for any missing assignments and see current grades for all subject areas. By regularly checking this site you will be providing an added level of accountability and support for your child throughout the year.
Lastly, along with a copy of this welcome letter, your child will bring home three forms on the first day of school that will require your signature. These forms can also be found on my Canvas Homepage "Back to School Forms" module.
- Science Syllabus (with a list of supplies needed),
- Safety Lab Contract
- Food Permission Slip
Please review these forms with your child to ensure that the safety rules and classroom expectations are understood for the year. All signed forms and school supplies are due the first Friday of week 1. If for any reason you have difficulty purchasing the supplies, please let me know so I can assist. I look forward to partnering with you in your child’s education for the coming school year.
