Hello and welcome back!!!
I just wanted to reach out and formally introduce myself and the members of the Fort Couch PTSO Executive Board and provide a short update on what our plans are for 2020/21.
My name is Siân (pronounced Sharn!) Howell and I am this year’s PTSO President for Fort Couch. I have 3 children in the district, one at Boyce, Fort Couch and also the High School and my family moved here from the UK two years ago.
New to us this year is our Vice President, Sarah Beitler and our treasurer, Julie Zeringue.
Sarah has twin boys currently in 6th grade at Boyce and Julie has three children in 6th, 4th and 3rd respectively.
Back again this year is our Secretary, Catherine Deep. She has two children in 8th and 9th grade.
Stacey Cobb moves on to the position of Board Advisor after doing a fantastic job last year as our PTSO President. She has two boys in 7th and 9th grade.
As we approach the beginning of the new school year, it isn’t looking quite the same as last time!
Normally, the Fort Couch PTSO team would be knee deep in prep work for the upcoming events that go hand in hand with the new semester, requesting activity fees for the school year and meeting parents and students alike on the “Welcome Day”.
Instead we find ourselves in a very different situation.
In a “normal year” our big events that we arrange would be the three exciting school socials, school clubs, and various staff appreciation events. However, this is now looking unlikely thanks to the Covid virus and our year will look a little different to normal.
Rest assured that we will not be asking for the usual $40 activity fee (which would usually include your PTSO membership). We don’t know when we can resume planning any activities for the upcoming school year so we are aiming to take a “wait and see approach”.
Keep safe, stay strong and we look forward to seeing you all again soon!
