I have been teaching at Upper St. Clair since the 1999-2000 school year. I graduated from the University of Akron with a BS in Biology and a minor in Sociology. I worked at the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute as a research associate for three years. I received my teacher certification from the University of Pittsburgh in 1999. Academic Biology:This course is designed to give students an overview of biology. Here are the topics covered by nine weeks:
- 1st nine weeks- Scientific method, how science works, ecology and the environment
- 2nd nine weeks- Biochemistry, cells, transport, bioenergetics
- 3rd nine weeks- Genetics- DNA, RNA, proteins, genetic technology, inheritance, mitosis and meiosis
- 4th nine weeks- Biological change, natural selection, and classification
