Suggested materials:
TI-84 graphing calculator and a scientific calculator (includes sin, cos, and tan, but does NOT graph), and pencils.
If you would prefer to use paper instead of the chromebook, you will also need a 3-ring binder, notebook and graph paper and pens.
Courses Currently Taught:
Honors Algebra 2: In this course, students will primarily focus on the study of functions: linear, quadratic, polynomial, exponential, logarithmic, rational, radical and trigonometric. The use of these functions to model real world situations is a major theme. The students will utilize the graphing calculator when needed throughout the course. Students are expected to achieve at a higher level, seek additional help when needed, and spend more time on exploration and enrichment topics, including sequences, series and conic sections.
Background:
I am a graduate of Slippery Rock University with a degree in Mathematics, a minor in Special Education, and a master's degree in Secondary Mathematics Education. I began teaching in Upper St. Clair in March of 2001 at Fort Couch Middle School. I have been at the high school since the fall of 2002. I have taught a variety of subjects including, Calculus, Functions/ Statistics/ Trigonometry (FST), Conceptual Geometry, Conceptual Algebra 2, Academic Algebra 2, and Honors Algebra 2.
