• Mr. Jerry Malarkey

    High School Counselor

    Background:

I started teaching at Upper St. Clair High School in February of 1977. For about twenty years I taught Ninth Grade Civics/Geography, American History, World History, Sociology, and Psychology I joined the Counseling Department in the fall of 1997 and have found this chapter of my career to be very rewarding and exciting. My biggest thrill comes from watching students mature throughout their four years of high school and then go on to be successful in college or their chosen career. It is especially rewarding when students make the effort to keep in touch after graduating. In addition to my duties as a teacher and counselor I coached football for ten years and I have been the Head Baseball Coach since 1985. I am also the facilitator of Athletes Taking Action. My wife Laurie and I have two children, Jeff and Jenny. My interests outside school include Pirate baseball, golf, hiking in the woods ,and music as well as maintaining a vegetable garden plot.
