    Background:

I graduated from California University of Pennsylvania in December 2005 with a degree in Chemistry. I have been a full time teacher at USC High School since the start of the 2010-2011 school year.

Currently, I teach Conceptual and Academic Chemistry, but I have also taught 21st Century Science, Honors Chemistry, and Forensic Chemistry at the High School.

    Courses Taught:

    Academic Chemistry:

Using a laboratory-oriented approach, the students study the properties and forms of matter, the means whereby transformations occur in matter, the energy changes accompanying these processes, and man’s use of these changes in his adaptation to his environment. The course is designed to meet the needs of those who enroll as a matter of general interest, as well as those who may need to take a science as a part of their program at the college level.

    Conceptual Chemistry:

This course is designed to meet the needs of those students who struggle with math, science, and reading comprehension. The practical applications of chemistry are stressed with little emphasis on the mathematical aspects of the science and major emphasis on guided experimental work and demonstrations. The structure, composition, and properties of matter, along with the change matter undergoes during chemical reactions, are studied.
