2023-24 School Start Times
In May 2023, the USC School Board approved new start/dismissal times that take effect with the start of the 2023-24 school year. The change is based on a growing body of scientific evidence that supports the importance of adequate sleep for the overall well-being and academic success of students. The chart below includes the approved start/dismissal times for elementary, middle and high school students.

While there has been overwhelming support from students and families regarding the start time change, we recognize that this may initially create logistical challenges for some families. We are committed to working with and supporting families as we all adjust to this new schedule.
We are confident that this change will have a positive impact on the overall well-being and academic performance of our students. By prioritizing their sleep, we are investing in their success both inside and outside the classroom.
Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education.
Sincerely,
Dr. John Rozzo
Superintendent of Schools
