Course Description: SEEDS helps your child grow in many areas, including self-awareness, decision-making, social skills, and teamwork. Location: Eisenhower Elementary 

Course Description: Students who are experiencing difficulty with reading are invited to participate in this Elementary Reading Lab. Each child will experience small group instruction designed to meet individual learning needs. Instruction will focus on strengthening students’ decoding, encoding, and comprehension skills correlated to their reading instructional level. Independent practice will also be a part of this lab.

Grades: Exiting Grades 1 through 4 (Kindergarten students are not eligible to enroll.)

Course Description: This summer course is designed for students who are experiencing difficulty in math and would benefit from a review of grade-level concepts and improvement in math skills. Students will experience the fundamentals of math in a very hands-on, engaging way. Each session will focus on strengthening fact fluency skills, exploration of a daily math concept, problem-solving strategies, and end with a fun math game.

Grades: Exiting Gr. K-7

Dates: June 22-26, 2026

Time: 10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. (early dismissal on Friday.)

Cost: $200 with a $20 discount for sibling campers ($180)

Course Description: Be a part of an exciting summer STEAM camp that trains your child's brain to think creatively! Participants work in teams to write, design, and build a creative solution to an open-ended problem.

Camp activities foster resilience, divergent thinking, risk taking, and collaboration in an atmosphere that rewards thinking “outside the box!” Daily workshops + challenges = loads of fun and creativity! Teams perform their solutions at a Friday Family Showcase!

Course Description: Did you know that kids are born engineers? They are fascinated with building, taking things apart, and how things work. If this sounds like your child, please join us for Upper St. Clair’s Summer S.T.E.A.M. Camp EdZOOcation. Our curious learners will brainstorm in collaborative teams to explore the wonders of zoo animals.

• Thursday: Hanging with the crew at the Good Zoo (Field Trip – will return around 2 p.m.)

Course Description: This course is designed for struggling readers to boost their skills that may have regressed during the summer months. Students who have completed kindergarten or first grade may enroll in this special workshop. Phonemic awareness and phonics skills will be emphasized and some time will be devoted to story comprehension.

Course Description: This course is designed for students who need extra support in reading and who are exiting grades 5-8. This course will involve reading and writing activities to support the following:

• Advance the literacy learning of students not meeting grade-level expectations in reading
• Deepen and expand comprehension with close reading
• Increase reading volume by engaging students in large amounts of successful daily reading
• Increase student engagement with books that build knowledge
• Meet the needs of struggling readers

Course Description: This course is designed for students who may need extra support in Math. Under the direction of a teacher, students will use IXL Math, a program that assesses a student’s current mathematical ability level in the four domains of math and provides them with activities, practices, and games at the individual’s ability level.

Content is available across all grade levels within the IXL program. Students who participate in the Middle School Math Lab will receive an IXL license that they will be able to access until the end of the summer. They will be given time to work on their dashboard at school with the assistance of a teacher, and direct instruction will be provided to help them review the concepts they need.

Grades: Exiting gr. 4-5

Course Description: Boyce STEAM Camp offers students an integrated, interdisciplinary, and student-centered approach to learning that encourages curiosity, creativity, artistic expression, collaboration, communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, and design thinking.

Course Description: This course is designed for students who want to stay engaged in reading and strengthen literacy skills. Students will read a high-interest, age appropriate novel that will encourage thoughtful conversations about themes, characters, and real world connections.

The book for the Summer Book Club is titled, "Found" by Margaret Peterson Haddix. The cost is included in the registration fee and books will be distributed on the first day of the Summer Book Club.

Meetings will include interactive discussions, creative response activities, and opportunities for students to share their perspectives and insights.

This Summer Book Club aims to: 

• Encourage consistent independent reading habits
• Maintain and strengthen reading comprehension skills
• Promote critical thinking and analytical discussion
• Build confidence in expressing ideas through speaking and writing
• Foster a positive reading community among peers

Grades: Exiting gr. 5-7 (Students must have a minimum of one year of proficiency performing on a wind band instrument to participate in the Summer Band Camp.)

Course Description: The Fort Couch Middle School Band Camp is for students exiting grades 5-7 with at least one year of experience performing on a wind or percussion instrument. Each student will participate in small group lessons and music theory classes, based on their experience level, and full ensemble rehearsals each day.

There will be a theme for each day of the week (e.g., FUNdamentals Days, Jazz Day, Pep Band Days) that culminates in a concert/recital in the morning on Friday, July 17. This camp will also review the audition materials for the FC auditioned ensembles (i.e., Symphonic Winds and Honors Jazz Ensemble) at Fort Couch Middle School. This is an excellent opportunity for students to enhance their music skills in the summer, meet new friends, and prepare for the upcoming school year!

Course Description: What would you do if you were stranded on a deserted island? In this exciting, hands-on STEAM camp, students will work in teams to solve survival-themed challenges using Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. Each day, campers will use the design cycle to plan, build, test, and improve creative solutions while focusing on a different STEAM area.

From designing shelters to creating water systems and exploring island ecosystems, students will collaborate, think critically, and bring their ideas to life.

Get ready to survive, design, and innovate!

The STEAM camp will also include a field trip to the museum of illusions Friday, July 17, 2026.

Grades: Exiting gr. 5-7 (Students need a minimum of one year performance background in a concert band program prior to enrolling in the MS Jazz Camp.)

Course Description: This engaging summer experience introduces middle school musicians to the exciting world of jazz. Designed for students exiting grades 5–7, the camp explores foundational jazz styles—including swing, blues, and Latin—while building strong ensemble skills and musical confidence.

Students will learn the fundamentals of improvisation through guided activities, call-and-response exercises, and simple scale and chord progressions in a supportive, encouraging environment. Daily rehearsals, sectionals, and listening sessions help students develop tone, sense of rhythm, and stylistic awareness.

Whether new to jazz or looking to grow as a young improviser, students will leave with practical tools, greater confidence, and a deeper appreciation for America’s original art form. The camp concludes with an informal performance to showcase what students have learned on Friday, July 17.

Location: Boyce Middle School

Course Description: Students are taught the 10 qualities to be a better leader. Students are then put into situations (games and activities) to put those specific skills to the test. Upon completion of the situations, there is a discussion as to what skills worked, what didn't, and how to improve on those skills.

Additional Information:  Outside events may occur. Sunscreen and hats should be considered. We understand that other siblings might be in a Leadership Academy at a different building, so we can be flexible with drop off and pick up times. (A few minutes early or a few minutes late)

Course Description: The Fort Couch Leadership Academy is a week-long summer program designed to introduce students to fundamental concepts and practices of leadership. Through a series of experiential activities, collaborative group projects, and opportunities for critical reflection, participants will develop an understanding of essential leadership qualities. Furthermore, student participants will engage in supervised service-learning leadership opportunities within the local community.

The primary objective of this program is to equip students with the necessary skills to effectively apply these leadership qualities in their daily lives.
 

Grades: Exiting Grades 5 and 6

Course Description:  Students will use the Lego Spike Robots to solve Lego Challenges. Students will use robotics and computer programming in the Boyce STEAM Design. They will be encouraged to use creativity, and problem-solving, show resilience, and accept failure as they create their project.

Dates: Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays; June 9 - July 16, 2026

Course Description: This course is intended for students who must finish next year's wellness education requirement over the summer due to scheduling constraints in the 2026-2027 school year. The Summer Wellness Program 2026 is a hybrid concept with in-person wellness classes and virtual health learning components. This course will follow the content taught in person over the school year.

Grades: Exiting Grades 8 through 11

Course Description:  A 2-day format for this summer will provide students with a selection of STEAM-related opportunities for experiential learning. Students will be able to practice skills needed in STEAM careers including communication, technology and problem solving.

Additional Information:  Day 1 will take place at the high school with various STEAM-related activities. Day 2 will begin with an immersive, experiential field trip, and then return to the high school to learn more about our high school STEAM Pathway.

Course Description: The national award-winning USCHS Leadership Academy is partnering with the University of Pittsburgh to align with the College in High School Theories of Leadership Course.

This course is designed to acquaint students with multiple theories and practices associated with effective leadership. In answering the question, “What is leadership?” it examines such theories as situational, participative, transformational, and servant leadership. Consideration is given to issues of followership and the many roles we play in life. The class also addresses those leadership and administrative skills and practices usually associated with effective professional management.

One of the strengths of this class is that it is very personal and applicable to a student’s development and everyday life, not to mention their future. This class is meant to be active and engaging, if not exciting, and this can be accomplished through the use of guest speakers, group exercises and projects, movies and video presentations, current events, community service, job shadowing, field trips, and more.

Grades: Exiting gr. 8 and those who have not previously completed Phase 1
