STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) design at Boyce Middle School is an approach to learning that shows students how subjects connect in school and in everyday life.
Through the engineering design process, students follow a series of steps to develop solutions to real-world problems while building creativity, innovation, and critical thinking skills.
Students in 5th and 6th grade will have opportunities to design, make, and create in both the STEAM Room and the Makerspace. The STEAM Room is a collaborative learning environment that promotes communication, problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork. The Makerspace provides students with opportunities to create, test, refine, and improve their designs while learning and following proper safety procedures and appropriate tool use.
Computer technology will also be integrated to enhance and support student projects.
