MYP Registration Process
The District’s MYP expands across two District levels: middle school level and high school level. It is also housed at three different school sites: Boyce Middle School for grades 5 and 6, Fort Couch Middle School for grades 7 and 8, and Upper St. Clair High School for grades 9 and 10. Since students may join the program at any grade except 10th grade, registration to the program is directed by the school which corresponds to the grade that the student wishes to matriculate into the program.
Boyce Middle School MYP Registration:
In the spring of the preceding school year, scheduling information for the upcoming school year is sent from the Principal’s Office to all incoming families. This information includes a form to be completed and returned to the school principal by a specific date.
Students, who have completed the District’s PYP and wish to continue in IB, are first provided the opportunity to enroll in MYP in fifth grade.
Students, who have completed Grade 5 and MYP Level 0 and wish to continue in IB MYP, are first provided the opportunity to enroll in Grade 6 MYP Level 1.
Families moving into the District, upon registration, should indicate their desire to discuss MYP placement. The staff member registering the family should provide the building principal’s name and contact information, so the family can arrange an opportunity to discuss MYP placement with appropriate school staff.
There have been a few school years when a waiting list for placement in MYP at grade 5 has occurred.
