Fort Couch students connect with Spanish community

Ft. Couch Students in Connie Montgomery’s Spanish class at Fort Couch Middle School had the opportunity to experience the culture of Spain with a visit from Mariu Muñoz Mengibar, a native of Spain and founder of Feels Like Home, a cross-cultural orientation and transition support group in Pittsburgh.

Señora Mengibar, a resident of Upper St. Clair, is originally from the Andulucia region of Spain and shared a presentation of España in Spanish.

“Señora Mengibar presented the power point in Spanish, and she was impressed that the students understood her Spanish and were able to ask questions in Spanish!” Mrs. Montgomery said. “The Fort Couch eighth grade students enjoyed the cultural lesson, and they were pleased to use their Spanish knowledge and conversation skills.”
