Hamel family celebrates three generations of USC graduates

Hamels Last week’s Upper St. Clair High School graduation marked a significant event for at least one family – a celebration of three generations of USC graduates.

The Hamel family’s affiliation with Upper St. Clair began in 1947 when Milt Hamel's father moved to Upper St. Clair to start a funeral business on McMurray Road, where the business remains today.

Milt graduated from Upper St. Clair High School in 1961 when the school was located at the present Fort Couch building. He and his wife, Carol, raised their family in Upper St. Clair. Their son Brad Hamel graduated from USC in 1989.

Brad married 1990 USC alumna Michelle Donovan, who serves as a teacher at Boyce Middle School. Brad and Michelle also chose to make their home in USC. Last week, their daughter Lauren graduated as a member of the class of 2016.

Congratulations to the Hamel’s three generations of USC graduates: Milt, Brad, Michelle and, especially, Lauren!
