Two seniors receive SHASDA awards
Two Upper St. Clair High School students have been named South Hills Area School Districts Association Student Performance Award winners. Seniors Matthew Colten and Aleen Klym will be honored during the annual SHASDA Conference on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at the Hilton Garden Inn at Southpointe.
Each year SHASDA presents awards to two students from each participating high school who have demonstrated significant improvement in student performance and/or have overcome obstacles in their academic careers.
Matthew, a baseball player, plans to major in religion at Bethany College in West Virginia with hopes to enter the ministry. Aleen is interested in pursuing a career in communications.
“Matthew and Aleen are remarkable young adults who have demonstrated resilience and fortitude in accomplishing their respective goals,” Dr. Louis Angelo, Upper St. Clair High School principal said. “We are extraordinarily proud of them and know they will continue to excel in their post-high school endeavors.”
