    Streams welcomes Thai students

Streams Second graders at Streams Elementary School recently had the opportunity to meet with two students from Thailand. Students were able to ask questions and to learn about Thai culture.

“This experience encouraged second graders to identify similarities and differences between cultures,” Lauren Bogus, second grade teacher, said.

The Thai students are part of the Thai-USA Student Cultural Exchange Program. Students, who are staying with Upper St. Clair host families, are visiting the country from March 31 – May 4, 2016. In addition to their experiences in Upper St. Clair and Pittsburgh area excursions, Thai students will visit Harrisburg, Hershey, Lancaster and Washington, D.C.

The Thai-USA Student Cultural Exchange Program was established in 2005 for Thai and Upper St. Clair students to gain international experience and an appreciation of each other's culture. The Thai Night Gala, an evening where the community can visit and learn about Thai culture, is set for 5-9 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Boyce Middle School. Admission is free. Tickets for the Thai dinner may be purchased. For more information, contact Luck Groves at 412.221.4816 or via email thai-usa@comcast.net.
