• High School Football Head Coach Named Recipient of Mickey Minnick Coach Award

    USC High School Head Football Coach Jim Render was honored with the Mickey Minnick Legendary Coach Award during the Mr. PA Football Awards Ceremony held at the Holiday Inn Harrisburg-Hershey in Grantville, PA.
     
    SportsRecruiters.com sponsored the sixth annual Mr. Pennsylvania Football Awards on Saturday, February 13. Selected by the fans, the media, and the coaches, each representing 1/3 of the vote, awards recognized the best high school football players and coaches in Pennsylvania. For the evening’s festivities, the Keynote Speaker was University of Pittsburgh Head Football Coach Mr. Pat Narduzzi.
     
    The award commemorates the accomplishments of Mr. Mickey Minnick, a Gettysburg College graduate. Mr. Minnick served as head coach at John Harris (1968-1970), Harrisburg (1971), and Steelton-Highspire (1977-1980), earned a record of 76-8-3 and four Central Penn League and one South Penn League football championships.
     
    Coach Render’s career statistics are equally impressive: 384-130-7.
     
    A portion of the proceeds for Mr. Pennsylvania Football Awards are being donated to Vickie’s Angel Walk charity. Vickie's Angel Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission of helping families fighting cancer who have difficulties paying their bills.
