School Spelling Bee winners advance to regionals
Five Upper St. Clair students will have an opportunity to advance to the 73rd Annual Western Pennsylvania Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Robert Morris University.
To qualify for the regional competition, Jasneh Kaur, Baker Elementary School; Viktor Misic, Eisenhower Elementary School; Sailee Kumar, Streams Elementary School; Luka Beric, Boyce Middle School; and Raana Parchuri, Fort Couch Middle School, each finished first in their school’s spelling bee. The school-level spelling bees, open to all students in grades 4 – 8, were sponsored by the Baker PTA, Eisenhower PTO, Streams PTO, Boyce PTO, and Fort Couch PTSO.
Students up through grade 8 from throughout a 26-county region will compete at Robert Morris University. The winner of the Western Pennsylvania Spelling Bee will have the opportunity to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee, which will take place the week of Memorial Day 2023 at Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Md.
