Selected by tryouts held at Duquesne University on November 24, the following members of the Upper St. Clair High School (USCHS) jazz ensemble won coveted positions in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 1 Honors Jazz Festival, which will be rehearsed and performed at the university on December 18-19:
- James Boston – Trumpet
- David Corbin – Trumpet
- Daniel Geffrey – Baritone Saxophone
- Alex Wolfe – Bass
- Robbie Halpner – Piano
To be eligible for acceptance into PMEA Honors Jazz, all players were asked to improvise a minimum of two
choruses over the Jamey Aebersold Vol. 2 “Nothing But the Blues,” and play a specified jazz etude on their instrument at blind-auditions for local music teacher judges.
These students are directed by Mr. Don Pickell and Mr. Frank Eisenreich.
