• Three Middle School Students Finish in Top Spots in Regional Math Contest

    Twenty-five USC middle school students participated in the preliminary round of the 2015 Mathematics Council of Western Pennsylvania First Year Algebra /Integrated Math II Contest, held on Saturday, April 11, at Baldwin High School.

    The following eighteen USC students continued on to the final round of the competition and were invited to travel to Derry Area Middle School on Saturday, May 9: Angela Belack, Peyton Ciesco, Christian Chiu, Jason Choi, Harrison Chui, Jack Clark, Claire Chen Joon, Shalmalee Joshi, Graham Kretschmar, Suemin Lee, Yuna Matsuda, Katie McCurrie, Jonah Murray, Brendan Neal, Pravalika Ravula, Aleksa Rodic, Anika Sinha, and Chand Vadalia.

    Jonah Murray, currently enrolled in Algebra I as a sixth grader, won 1st place overall. Jason Choi, a seventh grader in Algebra I, earned 2nd place. Sixth-grader Christian Chiu finished with the 3rd place honor. All three boys received engraved plaques and monetary prizes for their outstanding merit!

    All of the young mathematicians are commended for masterfully applying their skills and giving up their weekend time to represent USC. These individuals and the Upper St. Clair School District are proud of this outstanding accomplishment!
