• Teammate Spotlight for May 2015 - Bus Mechanics Tom Kostelic, Steve Moore and Jim Connelly

Please join Dr. Patrick O'Toole, Superintendent of Schools, in recognizing Tom Kostelic, Steve Moore and Jim Connelly, Bus Mechanics, for being chosen for our Teammate Spotlight feature, May 2015.

Tom, Steve and Jim are the team behind the scenes working feverishly every morning and at times well into the evening keeping the fleet of 47 buses in top shape to transport our 4,000+ students daily. They check the fleet each morning and make sure that all buses are in proper working condition to transport the students to school. They perform daily routine and emergency maintenance work on the buses before the morning runs, as necessary throughout the day for the midday and afternoon runs, and are on call well into the night when buses are transporting the children to evening activities. During the winter months there is the extra challenge of the weather conditions of snow, ice, and cold temperatures. During the summer, they spend time getting the fleet in shape for the yearly inspection by the state police.

Tom Kostelic has been with the District since April 1997. He and his wife, Barb, have one daughter who is a teacher at South Fayette School District. Barb also works at the bus garage as a substitute bus driver so that she can have extra time to spend with their two grandchildren (five years old and 20 months old). In Tom’s spare time, he enjoys restoring his ’66 Mustang.

Steve Moore has been with the District since February 1994. Steve is also the Fire Chief for the USC Volunteer Fire Department; he has been Fire Chief for 9 years and has been a volunteer fireman for 37 years. He has two children, Mike (age 28) and Lauren (age 24). Mike works for the Township Public Works Department and also serves as the Assistant Fire Chief. Lauren works at Bridgeville Animal Hospital.

Jim Connelly has been with the District since January 2011. He and his wife, Sue, have one son (Shane) who is age 20. In Jim’s spare time, he enjoys going to or watching car racing.

Thank you Tom, Steve and Jim for fulfilling the huge responsibility of serving as our District’s bus mechanics so that our students can be safely transported to and from school each day, ready to learn, busmechanics and to perform at their athletic events and activities.
