• Eighth Grade MATHCOUNTS Team Ranks Third in the State!
     
    Four eighth grade students at Fort Couch Middle School won the privilege to participate in the State MATHCOUNTS Competition held in Harrisburg on March 27-28. They competed against 24 teams from around the state.
     
    The team of Sam Ding, Braden Yates, Dina Leyzarovich, and Jason Choi earned third place overall for the state!
     
    Individually, Sam Ding finished 11th and Braden finished 36th out of the 150 individual competitors.
     
    Founded by the National Society of Professional Engineers, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and CNA Foundation, approximately 140,000 students from all 50 states, U.S. territories, and the State and Defense Department school systems worldwide participate annually in school MATHCOUNTS competitions.
     
    Math resource teachers Ms. Kathy Hoedeman and Ms. Yasmina Hough coached and sponsored the Fort Couch MATHCOUNTS students.
