Fort Couch Mathematicians “Add Up” Special Achievements at PML
Fort Couch students participated in the Pennsylvania Math League (PML) at the end of February. The Math League has math contests for students in grades 4 through 8, Algebra I students, and high school students. With over one million students from the United States and Canada participating in these contests each year, this contest has become well-known among our students and many of them were practicing vigorously throughout the month of February.
About 25 students from each grade level participated in this competition. The following top students made up USC's 7th and 8th grade teams, which competed in the state-wide competition:

1st Place: Aleksa Rodic
2nd Place: Vivek Babu
3rd Place: Jack Clark
3rd Place: Riwk Sen
Top Five 8th Graders
1st Place: Sam Ding
2nd Place: Serena Luo
2nd Place: Mallika Matharu
2nd Place: Vikram Reddy
The 7th grade team ranked 7th out of 80 schools in the state of Pennsylvania and 2nd within Allegheny County. The 8th grade team came in 10th out of 82 schools in the state of Pennsylvania and 1st in Allegheny County.
Individually, Aleksa Rodic ranked 2nd within Allegheny County and 23rd overall for the state for 7th grade. Vivek Babu ranked 4th within Allegheny County for 7th grade.
Of special merit, 8th grader Sam Ding tied for 1st place individually for both Allegheny County and overall for the state of Pennsylvania.
The Fort Couch math students were coached by Ms. Yasmina Hough.
