• Fort Couch Mathematicians “Add Up” Special Achievements at PML

Fort Couch students participated in the Pennsylvania Math League (PML) at the end of February. The Math League has math contests for students in grades 4 through 8, Algebra I students, and high school students. With over one million students from the United States and Canada participating in these contests each year, this contest has become well-known among our students and many of them were practicing vigorously throughout the month of February.

About 25 students from each grade level participated in this competition. The following top students made up USC's 7th and 8th grade teams, which competed in the state-wide competition:

    Top Five 7th Graders
    1st Place: Aleksa Rodic
    2nd Place: Vivek Babu
    3rd Place: Jack Clark
    3rd Place: Riwk Sen
    Top Five 8th Graders
    1st Place: Sam Ding
    2nd Place: Serena Luo
    2nd Place: Mallika Matharu

The 7th grade team ranked 7th out of 80 schools in the state of Pennsylvania and 2nd within Allegheny County. The 8th grade team came in 10th out of 82 schools in the state of Pennsylvania and 1st in Allegheny County.

Of special merit, 8th grader Sam Ding tied for 1st place individually for both Allegheny County and overall for the state of Pennsylvania.
