• Teammate Spotlight for March 2015 - Joe Graceffo

Please join us in recognizing Joe Graceffo, ATC, Athletic Trainer, for being chosen for our Teammate Spotlight feature, March 2015.

Joe Graceffo has been the Athletic Trainer for Upper St. Clair School District since 1996 and the Assistant Athletic Director since 2007. He has also been the Director of Athletic Training Services for NovaCare since 2001.

Joe’s role as the School District’s Athletic Trainer is a key component of the District’s athletic program. He oversees the care of 800 student athletes representing 27 sports and 54 teams. His responsibilities as Athletic Trainer include collaborating with physicians to provide preventative services, emergency care, examination, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions for both students and staff. Joe has an open door policy to provide direction of care for anyone in need, including evaluations, suggestions of proper follow-up with physicians and physical therapists, and provision of wellness tips.

The photo of Joe Graceffo and Dr. O’Toole was taken at the High School Football Banquet this past schoolgraceffo year when Joe was presented with the “Chuck” Award. This Award was named to honor a longtime Assistant Football Coach, Charles “Chuck” McKinney. Coach McKinney is hard working and spends countless hours on details to make the football team better, particularly in the special teams or kicking category. Like the Oscar or Emmy, the “Chuck” Award is given to someone in our football program who excels and rises to the top of his chosen profession.

Joe and his wife, Jennifer (who happens to be a third grade teacher at Streams Elementary School), have one son, Wesley, and reside in Cecil Township. When Joe is not busy providing Athletic Trainer services or spending time with his family, he enjoys being an avid outdoorsman and Pittsburgh sports fan.

Our thanks to Joe for his dedicated service to the School District’s staff and student athletes for the past 19 years! March is the perfect time to recognize Joe as our Teammate Spotlight since March is deemed “Athletic Trainer” month by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association.
