• Sahil Doshi Presents His Innovative PolluCell at White House Science Fair

President Obama hosted the White House Science Fair on March 23 and High School student Sahil Doshi was chosen to exhibit the innovative carbon-dioxide powered battery he designed called PolluCell.

Sahil was chosen as the winner of the 2014 Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge for his innovative, eco-friendly battery design and was awarded the title of “America’s Top Young Scientist.” He worked one-on-one with a 3M Scientist Mentor to bring his idea to life and was awarded the grand prize of $25,000. As America’s Top Young Scientist, Sahil has traveled the nation to share his innovation appearing on NBC News, Fox and Friends, and Wake Up With Al.

Sahil’s project was inspired by the fact that 1.2 billion people worldwide lack access to electricity and theSDoshiPresObama rising levels of toxic air pollution. He was determined to create an energy storage device that could help lower harmful greenhouse gases while generating electricity for those in need.

In addition to his 2014 award, the Pittsburgh Business Times recently selected Sahil as a winner in the Student Project category of the 2015 Energy Leadership Awards, which honors individuals and companies in our region for being pioneers in our booming energy sector. Sahil will be honored at an awards program in May for his PolluCell innovation.
